VERY RARE ORIGINAL CONFEDERATE CARTRIDGE BOX METAL PLATE FROM THE CIVIL WAR

As most collectors know, looking for anything from the Confederacy is many times tougher than hunting for Union artifacts. You will notice that the plate was NOT holed for attachment; the original wire used to attach it remains on the reverse.

The condition of this item is much better than most "CSA" plates--if/when you can find them. Virtuall all that are found are damaged, cracked, rusted or otherwise damaged.

I have only had a single example of this over the last 40 years of selling historical items. One of my customers about 25 years ago very much wanted a CSA plate of this type; he looked for years and didn't hesitate when we finally found one--that was priced at more than $500.

We have sold hundreds of -- probably well over 1,000-- Civil War items items in our business in more than 45 years--and I would estimate that no more than 10-12 have been from the Confederate army! This is a rare opportunity and at about half of what one would expect to pay for a comparable piece.
