Complete Set Gem BU 9 Bronze Medals/Whitman Folder Seattle World's Fair Century 21 Exposition 1962
This is an always-sought after complete set of 1962 Bronze very high relief medals from the Seattle World's Fair, the Century 21 Exposition of 1962. The set includes 8 different medals, all in very high relief, each representing a different area and/or attraction at the fair, as well as the official space medal from the fair (shown next to the Apace Needle on the first page of the boo). The reverse of all 8 medals is the fair logo. The set comes in a custom Whitman folder for display, in which the set was sold at the fair in the building housing the MILLION DOLLAR exhibit, 1 million US silver dollars. It turned out to be one of the most popular exhibits at the fair--just a big wire mesh basket full of a million silver dollars. The dollars were sold in special holders for a single coins and in bags of one hundred coins. The same building was also the fairgrounds home for all numismatic collector items. Ebay generally has 2 or 3 sets for sale at most times, the bronze at anywhere from $250 to $395 and the silver as high as $1,000+. We acquire the sets whenever we can find them priced realistically, which is very infrequently. We try to sell bronze sets for less than $200 and silver as close to $300 as possible. We are offering this set--gem mint medals-- in its original folder, which we photographed to show where the staple binding has loosened. It can still stand up on a shelf fine, facing out or spine out, or displayed flat. The spine could be repaired most effectively with a blue masking tape unless you could find a blue book binding acid free tape. The set is specially priced for this sale at just $160. Shipping includes postal insurance for the sale price.
