1851 1st World's Fair Crystal Palace London Unusual Product Lot #229
This small item about 2.5-inches in diameter, it's a simple ring and center piece. By putting a piece of "linen" over the center piece one would place the ring over the top and pull fabric taut so one could write on it. The ring has split but that doesn't impair its display well and actually, with care it could still be used--should that be your purpose in buying it. Rare to find any products displayed or winning an award from the world's first true world's fair "only" 170 years ago. The back includes the name and address of the person in England who initially owned this piece.
