US Coins-Gem Mint Nearly Full Red Lustrous 1909 VDB Lincoln Cent
We have specialized in Lincoln and Indian cents for many years and quite frankly, probably purchase far too many high quality uncirculated VDBs. When I have the opportunity to obtain a very nice or several very nice coins I don’t hesitate. Consequently we have numerous VDB’s available, just a few for sale here. For example, we recently purchased 5 absolute gem, iridescent brown coins (that I would expect to grade at least MS65) from a good friend/dealer and have also purchased numerous outstanding red specimens from another dealer.
The subject of “brown” Lincoln and Indian cents is one always open to some controversy. Most every price guide from the Redbook to the Grey Sheet consider red specimens much more valuable. The logic is of course that over time it becomes more and more difficult to find original red copper coins. I would always price a red coin above a brown, but I think the latter gets the proverbial bum rap—a well-struck, richly toned and iridescent MS65-66 is highly desirable and we do have several available.
There are numerous Lincoln and Indian gem uncirculated coins in this sale so if you are interested in coins as much as, say, Columbian medals, be sure to go through the several hundred new offerings on this site and don't overlook some terrific and some rather spectacular US cents. WE DECIDED TO PUT TWO OF THE BEST TOGETHER SO DO CONSIDER THIS AND THE PRECEDING GEM VDB.
