1962 C21-Five Gem BU Medals/Tokens from the Seattle World’s Fair
t’s becoming more and more difficult to find gem medals from my hometown fair; they certainly were plentiful in the 1960s-1990s but supplies dwindle as more and more medals go into collections and stay there. This not a rare group but it is a very nice one. The trade dollar takes the top spot as the most plentiful of any C21 medal—maybe of any world’s fair medal. This one is a gem and thus we would never sell it for the typical less-than-a-dollar price for just any old trade dollar.
The Million Dollar display is seldom seen in gem condition; if you look on Ebay often you can find this and other of the low-relief medals with lots of corrosion or problems, or just not BU and sellers still try to get silly prices! I’ve always been very enamored of the transit token, which many mistakenly believe were for use on the Monorail. These were NOT used on the monorail at all but rather on all of the bus lines in Seattle. And the Space Age medal is one of many we have that are still in the cello bag of issue from 59 years ago and consequently in perfect gem condition.
