WCE Books-Glimpses of the White City and the Midway Plaisance

It’s interesting how many of the books and apparently individuals in 1893 looked at the Midway and the fair in general as two separate entities. Certainly they approached the world and its people, art and culture differently. Fairgoers viewed the buildings of the main grounds as “academic” and the Midway as “entertainment,” but without a doubt they were all educational and presented more than 600 acres of what most visitors had never seen or even knew existed until their visit to Chicago.
