Victorian Estate Jewelry Bar Pin with Large Center Pearly and 10 Side Pearls, Lot #114
One of several Victorian estate pieces we are offering in the store. These pieces, costume jewerly when costume jewelry was elegant and quite classy in the Victorian era--what upscale Columbian Exposition visitors might have worn along with feathers and fancy hats. Each of the pieces listed is original to the period named for the British queen who sat on the throne a record 64 years for a monarch until surpassed by Queen Elzabeth, at 68 years and still counting.
The Victorian Era stretched all the way from Victoria's crowning in 1837 to the turn of the twentieth century. She died in 1901. Her reign was remarkable even if just for her longevity on the throne. Imagine the changes in England and the world in general between 1837 and the beginning of the twentieth century. A great many Victorian jewerly items are generally from the latter years of Victoria's reign, from about 1870-1900, although those earlier pieces certainly belong in the same category. Most of those we have acquired are circa 1880s-1890s. Each of the Victorian pieces we're listing are priced quite low, for the collector only displaying the items or for the collector who revels in wearing bits of her collection daily.
