Shipwreck Sale: Smallest of the Roman Glass Bottles in the Sale
The is the smallest of the several Roman blown glass bottles in this sale; I must admit that it also is rather plain. You can study the subdued color and the details. It is definitely in excellent condition and problem free.
All of us shop differently and appreciate different items from one another. Price is always a concern (I've never had a customer over the last 45 years to whom money was totally insignificant....and several had plenty! But the wealthier folksgenerally got that way by not being just frugal, but evaluating value intrinsically and personally of each item they purchased. Who doesn't want to save money when its possible?
This is the least exensive here because it is the smallest bottle in this sale and it is also quite plain. Its narrow top also means it could have had fewer uses. It likely was filled with aromatic water (i.e. 2,000-year-old-cologne) and it could be dispensed drop-by-drop with the narrow opening.
I expect to see this sold just about as quickly as any lot in the sale.
Shipping is pretty standard at $7.00 for fragile Roman glass and other dug or salvaged items as they will be packed with plenty of popcorn and bubblewrap and
sent in a sturdy box.
