VERY SCARCE 32MM MEDAL LAFAYETTE, PARIS 1931 EXPOSITION #ON0833
Like the medal that follows, this bronze piece from the 1931 Paris world's fair features the same deco style reverse from the fair. That larger medal features Lafayette and Washington, while this one has just a bust of Lafayette. The men fought together and were heroes of the U.S. Revolutionary War--France solidly on the same side as the colonists in fighting England. Both medals, rarely found, routinely sell for well over $100; I would normally list this one at the same low price as the dual bust medal but have marked it down further due to the odd mark on the obverse field which looks like three small circles. NOTE: Shown are the identical reverses of the two medals, with the one at the left obviously from this smaller medal!
