L&C 1905-Outstanding Storecard from the Lewis & Clark Exposition #1357
Hansome BU medal from the Vermont Farm Machine Company celebrating its award at the Portland World’s Fair. Very high grade that I would think a third-party would grade well.. I try to be more conservative but I have studied a lot of NGC-graded world's fair medals and try to use their standards. The obverse clearly shows no wear and the die for the figures on the reverse may have been a bit smooth when engraved. But they do not seem worn. I have noticed that many people who purchased such pieces from me in the past, say more than 10 years ago, probably received medals I graded as Choice AU or Borderline Unc might have been receiving MS62-63 pieces! I was very conservative and it took me years to realize that some things like a small spot of apparent wear was simply how the medal was struck. Take a look at the good Mssrs Lewis and Clark on the obverse. Their hair looks quite nice, all combed and sprayed in place perfectly, i.e struck very well with no wear whatsoever. Enjoy and please note the still conservative part of our listing--the price.
