#165-CIVIL WAR SALE: GEM BASHLOW CONFEDERATE CENT WITH DOUBLING ON DATE

It was 64 years ago that these wonderful restrikes from the original cancelled dies first appeared. They've been very popular and that popularity has never waned. This is not slabbed but is comparable to the MS68 I sold recently. The only "flaws" are the ones from the original dies: small bubbles, a short line through the obverse "N" and the defaced die on the reverse. Fortunately, the original die had no rust or other issues so it's essentially a gem + intentional cancellation. If you look at the closeup of the obverse you can see some doubling on the date. As with many items in this sale, we have listed it substantially below typical prices realized.
