Carving-Almost Black Jade Bird, 20th Century Asian(?) Art
This 4-inch long bird is a simple piece of carving, but the tilted head and eyes seem to watch you; every time you take a sideways glance at the bird it does seem as if it’s also checking you out! FYI, the use of the term contemporary is a bit broad but puts the age of the piece at pretty much anywhere in the 1900s. The term is used to differentiate a piece from an acknowledged antiquarian piece of art from the early part of the 20th century forward.
