C21-Original AMT Insert To Model Kits Announcing Their Booth at the World's Fair
AMT, the huge company that builds cars (and more), just not big enough for human use, sells its millions of vehicles as model car kits. In 1962 AMT was one of the private busienss vendors/concessions at the Seattle World's Fair which I find a little odd. But at 10 year's old in '62 I found it great! It was one of my favorite attractions (rivaling the arcades and amusement rides) at the fair as I was one of those kids who loved to build model cars--and I was the proverbial all thumbs. AMT had the greates giveaway at the fair, handing out custom made sheets of decals featuring the world's fair logo and the Space Needle that kids could put on their model cars; the giveaway also included a large logo decal for dad's car window.
AMT announced their participation by including this flyer in every model car kit sold in 1961 and 1962. It's a quite rare piece for the reason so obvious most wouldn't immediately think of it. How many kids would keep the enclosure in a model kit and if they did, I'd say even someone as nerdy as I was wouldn't have put it in a protective sleeve and kept it 60 years.
And of course I wouldn't sell this one if I didn't have a duplicate to keep as a reminder of that aspect of the fair.
