World's Columbian Expo Stanhope Pig with Expo Name/Date on the Side #512
For the uninitiated, Stanhopes were a unique souvenir at the World's Columbian Expo of 1893 and elsewhere. You'd look in a small opening (in this case the pig's snout). There's an opening at the other end too--that lets light in. Inside is schematic illustrating of a bird's eye view of the fairgrounds. This is from the huge John Kennel Columbian collection and we thought we'd sold all of the Stanhope in his collection but came upon this last one.
