World's Columbian Boxed Toy or Doll Furniture Wooden Puzzle
This a very interesting puzzle/toy from 1893. The box notes that this was cut from a single block of wood. When you disassemble the puzzle the various pieces are not just random shapes, but table, chairs, etc. for a child's playset/doll house. The third photo show the small piece at the right of the view of the puzzle in the box. You can see that it slides out and the piece was the full width of the box and puzzle. We decided not to take the puzzle apart to show the shapes/furniture pieces for fear it might be easy to reassemble--so easy a child could do it; but then maybe not an adult. It is interesting to note that a very similar boxed puzzle of furniture was sold at the 1933-34 Chicago World's Fair also. We also have that 1933 puzzle, which likewise is in excellent condition in the original box. If the purchaser of this piece is not just a Columbian collector, but is especially interested in this as a toy we would be happy to add the '33 boxed puzzle to this purchase for just an additional $15. Just let us know when purchasing the '93 item. If the buyer only wants the Columbian puzzle we'll just add the later on to our next sale.
