Very Nice Civil War Token with Grease Obliterating Portion of Surface+Dual Dates!
This is a popular Civil War token, advertising an annual Soldiers' Fair., but it is paired with the wrong die noting a different date for the Refreshment Saloon for soldiers. It is a high grade, nice color and about 1/3 of both sides were struck so weakly (probably from grease on the die) that almost nothing can be seen on about 1/3 of the surface, obverse and reverse. It's interesting that the rest of the token is bold such that it would normally grade AU or AU+. For the error collector or the Civil War collector interested in an unusual variety. A rare and interesting Civil War token from 1861....and 1863. All issues considered, plus the high grade, this easily could sell for a very substantial amount is an auction where more than one bidder is anxious to grab such an unusual piece. Our price is dramatically reduced from what this CWT could/should bring.
