Original Box of 100 Embossed Poker Chips from the "Other" Chicago Expo, in 1933-34.
From the Century of Progress 1933-34 World's Fair in Chicago, this is an amazing mint condition set of poker chips in their original box. Every chip is embossed with the swirling Arcturas (Star) logo. These are composite pressed chips, neither old-style bone or ivory and not modern plastic. Single chips occasionally turn up on ebay, the white and blue selling in the $3-$10 range, while red is rarely seen and generally commands a bit higher price. The box, with a world's fair logo sticker on the top, contains 50 white and 25 each blue and red chips. The box is virtually mint, looks brand new and the chips have never been used. We would think a poker chip collector might pay even more for such a nearly 90-year-old vintage set than a Chicago Expo collector. We know we have the latter on our customer list, but maybe a few poker chip collectors are lurking there as well. I believe a realistic retail price for the full box should be $125-$200, the rarity and condition both important. We're offering them for this sale at just 80 cents a chip, or $80 for the box and chips.
