Modern US Commemorative Benjamin Franklin Proof Silver Dollar #524
One of the most attractive of the "modern" series of commemorative half and dollar coins, as well as gold pieces, struck beginning in the early 1980s. The original commemorative half dollar series began in 1892 with the Columbian Exposition and ended in 1954 with the last of the Booker T. Washington-Washington Carver silver half dollars. The resumption of commemoratives spurred a renewed interest in coin collecting in the country. The coin is in the original plastic capsule from the US Mint but does not come with a box.
