K2317 Miniature version of the popular Pagliaghi medal

This piece is about the size of a half dollar, including the full diameter of the border. It is a modified and simplified version of the many Pagliaghi medals struck for the Exposition. The outside design of the Indian chief and woman (presumably representing Columbia) are clear copies but very simplified. The bust of Columbus is also similar, with the balding head and curly hair, but in this pendant he looks a bit llike he has a mouthful of food.
