K1427, brochure about the Intramurall Railway and more

$40.00

This is a version of a fair map that was produced in large numbers and many variations. Folded over to four pages, this one is headlined “Columbian Intramural Railway….General Electric Company. The route of the Intramural Railway” (“the first and only Electric Elevated Railroad in the World (was) operated by the Third Rail Trolley System”) is in red and stops along the route are noted. On the back page stops are also noted in red and then a list of buildings/attractions under each let the riders know what was at each stop. As was customary on these handouts, the center pages were devoted to an advertiser. In this case performances at Festival Hall by the “Celebrated Lineff Russian Choir.” A similar handout, for example, from the French Bakery (which had its ad in the center) advised patrons that they could ride the train for free if they made a purchase at the bakery.
