Interesting Photo of Catholic School Students "On Display" at Columbian Expo
This is an original 8x10, and unlike most any you would find from the Expo. This is from the Kennel Columbian Collection. The Catholic Schoolboys from California are noted as part of the Catholic Education Exhibit at the World's Columbian Expo. We have seen images from this exhibit before, but they merely showed a display of books as if in a mini library. I suppose that various groups were brought to the fair to show their various skills learned in Catholic School. The reverse is imprinted "World's Columbian Exposition 1893 Catholic Educational Exhibit of the Archdiocese of San Francisco." The photo initially appeared to be printed on a quite heavy paper but the thin photo paper was glued to the porous backing; it would be impossible to remove it. Despite the creases, it's a very unusual, collectible image from the fair.
