1904 Dated French Award Plaque, Possibly Silver & Related to the St. Louis World's Fair
We don't know the historical significance of the statue/mural depicted on the obverse of this medal. It was only identified in the Kennel Collection as a French award medal from the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition (LPE), one of just a couple dozen non-Columbian items in John Kennel's 5,000± piece collection. Without much information we are forced to speculate and would assume this piece should normally sell in the $50-$100 range.
We have discovered in the Kennel Collection this exact piece of artwork on a 1911 French bronze medal, which is included with the plaque (which measures about 2x3 inches). The Very modest $40 price is for both this plaque and the accompanying bronze round medal.
